The Volckening Collection
The Volckening Collection includes almost 200 quilts from the 18th century to the 21st century. Located in Portland, Oregon, the diverse collection is known primarily for its significant group of New York Beauty quilts. These quilts were recently the focus of an exhibit, “Beauty Secrets: 150 Years of History in One Quilt Pattern” at the Benton County Museum in Philomath, Oregon. A print catalog accompanied the exhibit, and is available online. Quilts from the collection have been exhibited from New York to Tokyo, and appeared in publications worldwide.
